Blacksite (dz_blacksite) is a Danger Zone map in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The map was added into the game in the December 6, 2018 update. It was later removed in the April 30, 2019 update and re-added in May 21, 2019 update.

The map was created exclusively for the Danger Zone mode. In it, you need to find weapons in order to survive on the map against other 16-18 players. The size of the map to other CS:GO maps is big. The map has bunkers, a hotel, a radio, containers and many other places.

Behind the Scenes

  • The map was previously known as "survival_Island" and "mg_xl_Enclave".
    • The first mention was added in the October 10, 2016 update in mapautocompile.txt file.

map: survival_island vbsp: vvis: -mpi vrad: -mpi -hdr -textureshadows -staticproppolys -StaticPropLighting -final other: navanalyze=false

  • During December 1, 2017 update, soundscape script file[1] of said map was added to game files.Sounds/ambience sounds in undone for industrial areas, regular buildings, forest, coastline in said file. Additionally, one location is listed as "Crawlspace in house on the hill" which uses spooky ambient and Hostage breathing sounds.
  • References to Enclave were added in the July 6, 2018 update, and a Valve employee was seen playing on the Enclave map in a beta development branch on November 8[2].
  • A Valve employee was seen playing Blacksite in a beta development branch on December 2[2].
  • If you try to decompile and then compile this map, the compiler will not be able to compile the map because it has reached the limit of the number of brushes. Probably this map was created in Source 2.

  • At the point "Tourist" there is a locked room with the number "3", into which you can pass through the room with the number "2". It contains monitors and a radio, which sometimes will pronounce numbers and letters. If you decipher the code of this numbers, you can recognize the first lines of the song Still Alive from the game Portal.
    • Many players, after they discovered this secret, immediately thought that this was the announcement of the third part of this series of games, but the developers denied this, stating that this was only an Easter egg.[3]
  • At the point "Overlook" there is an unfinished inscription made of rocks - "SOS".
  • Sometimes, supply crates will fall through the map.
