Intense nighttime battles form in caves, the forest and room-to-room as terrorists attempt to destroy this historic castle built into the side of a mountain.

―Map Description[1]

Castle (de_castle) is a community created bomb defusal map designed by Yanzl and featured as part of Operation Breakout in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

On the October 13, 2016 update, the map was removed from the game files, making Castle inaccessible via console.

Overview[]

The map takes place in an old castle built into the side of a mountain, and features large open cave areas. Many connectors present in this map give Terrorists many options during a single round, and help Counter-Terrorists retake the lost bombsites. The castle`s architecture makes the map`s layout different from other maps and adds vertical elements.  Terrorists spawn outside the walls, in a forest area with a waterfall creating a small shallow river, while Counter-Terrorists spawn on a balcony overlooking a village. Terrorists can either choose to go right into the caves or to go left to Mid and Courtyard. Bombsite A is set in the caverns and has some pillars for cover. Counter-Terrorists can reach this site either by Kitchen or by Back Stairs leading from the side balcony upstairs. Bombsite B is situated around a well inside the walls. Terrorists can attack this site through the hole in the wall from Courtyard or from the Connector to A.

Trivia[]

  • The map is based on the Predjama Castle in Slovenia.
    • Many of the signs in this map are in both Slovene and English language.
    • The welcome sign near the Counter-Terrorists spawn reads "Grad Vspredvotline" , meaning "in front of the hole", a parody on Predjama meaning "before the cave".
