Overview

Dust3 (de_dust3) is a Counter-Strike: Source map for the Bomb Defusal game mode, that was discovered in the 2023 leak of Source developer asset repository.[1]

Overview[]

Dust3 is set in the Middle East, simular to its predecessors. The map has a primitive brushwork and overall is heavily unfinished.

The layout consists of large blocks with passages between them and includes a vast ravine that players cannot escape. Some elements from the earlier maps in the Dust series are present, such as double doors and a central pathway linking key areas.

The map has a single bombsite located at its center, characterized by a pile of wrecked cars stacked on top of each other.

Development[]

According to metadata, the file de_dust3.vmf was saved 570 times and last edited in July 2010.

It remains unclear whether Dust3 was intended as a serious continuation of the Dust series or simply an internal joke among the developers.
