Rubble (de_rubble) is a cut bomb defusal map that was to be featured in Counter-Strike (Xbox) and Counter-Strike: Condition Zero.
Overview[]
The setting of the map was a city which consists of ruined buildings. This together with gunshots heard in the background suggest that the map took place in a war torn landscape.
Official Description[]
Terrorists have developed a deadly DNA altering chemical which manipulates the body's DNA structure causing blood veins to harden solid within minutes. They were trying to ship this chemical out to other allied countries, but plans were interrupted. So in retaliation, they've decided to explode and spread the chemical here, in hopes of infecting CT's to aid in their escape.
Counter-Terrorists: Prevent Terrorists from bombing crates containing DNA altering chemical agents. Team members must defuse any bombs that threaten targeted areas.
Terrorists: The Terrorist carrying the C4 must detonate one of the chemical altering agent shipments.
Development[]
The map was created by Thearrel McKinney Jr. while Ritual Entertainment was in charge of the development of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. It was likely one of the original 10 multiplayer maps[1] that were to be released with Ritual's version of the game. There were plans for the map to be featured in both Counter-Strike (Xbox) and Counter-Strike: Condition Zero[2], but due to unknown reasons it was present in neither game.
Coinciding with the Half-Life 2 leak, a version of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero was also leaked. This leak included a fully playable version of the map compiled for the Xbox version of the game.[3][n 1]
Trivia[]
- Thearrel McKinney Jr. released a custom mission for Deleted Scenes in 2004 called Terrorist Retaliation which appears to have in part been based on this map.
