Security cameras are devices in Counter-Strike which allow Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists to view particular areas of the map in order to monitor activity, such as looking out for enemies and observing gunfights.
Use[]
To use a security camera, walk up to a screen, monitor, terminal or switch and press the use key (E by default). The player will then gain view of the area the camera monitors. After few seconds, the player will exit the view of the camera. On some maps the player can also manually exit the camera by pressing the use key again.
Appearances & Stats[]
Although appearing in most Beta maps, the retail version of Counter-Strike only features two maps with usable cameras (Assault and Militia). Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes also features two missions with security cameras (Miami Heat and Truth in Chaos).
All cameras in official or beta maps, when usable, do not allow the player to move, though movement can be given if said camera allows it (controlled by the map maker). If the camera tilts to a side with a use, it will tilt to the opposing side on the next use.
Although available in Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, usable cameras do not appear in it or future installments in the series. If any appear, they merrily serve as static props.

Bugs & Glitches[]
- Although uncommon, the player may be stuck in the camera view, preventing them from moving and rendering them completely vulnerable.
- Assault's CT cameras can be rendered inoperable if the antenna on top of the Surveillance Truck is destroyed. Even if it respawns every round, the cameras will be unusable until the map is loaded again.
Trivia[]
- Assault and Thunder are the only maps in which both the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists have access to working security cameras.
- The Source security camera model was the placeholder of early Aperture Cameras in early builds of Portal, another Valve game and franchise.
