This page is about the game mechanic. For the firing tactic, see Recoil#Tactics.

A spray is a gameplay mechanic that allows an image or symbol to be placed on an in-game surface (default key = "t"). Each player can only have one active spray image at a time.

Players are provided several default sprays, but custom sprays can be imported. A third party application is required to add custom sprays in Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, but Counter-Strike: Source allows them to be imported via the options menu.

Spray was removed in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, but a similar mechanic was reintroduced in the October 6, 2016 update in the form of the Graffiti, which are items that allow the player to spray logos onto surfaces.
