The TAC-21 is an unreleased bolt action sniper rifle added in the October 22, 2014 update to the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive game files.[1].

Overview[]

  • The first mentions to the weapon were added in the October 22, 2014 update, where two weapon firing sound files were mentioned and later removed from the sound manifests of Inferno and Mirage.

  • In the January 20, 2016 update, references to the resource files[2] were added, and removed once more in the January 27, 2016 update. The resource files indicate the weapon is still in development, and information regarding inspection animation were found.

  • The May 31, 2016 update added sound references again in server and client related files with 2 sound mixers lines: "Weapon_Tac21.BoltInterruptFail" and "Weapon_Tac21.BoltInterruptSuccess".
  • The June 15, 2016 update brought more weapon sound references and the same sound manifest was referred for the first time, revealing its ability to be silenced. The sound files' structure is similar to CT's AUG and T's SG 553. All sound references were removed from the sound manifest a day later in the June 16, 2016 update.
