Terminal (de_terminal)[1] was a bomb defusal map that was featured in Counter-Strike: Condition Zero during its development.
Overview[]
A bus terminal served as the playing grounds for this strictly indoors map.[2] The terminal had a very modern look, with spacious connecting paths and some shops scattered about.[3]
Development[]
Terminal was designed by Alexander Manilov while Gearbox Software was developing Counter-Strike: Condition Zero.[4] It was the second map that Alex worked on for their version of the game.[5]
A real life bus terminal, Port Authority in New York City, was used as inspiration when modeling the map though direct resemblance was avoided.[2] As Alex was quite busy with his university studies at the time, he was struggling with designing the map. However, he was still pleased with the way the map had turned out when he finished his contribution toward the game by December 2001.[5][6]
The map made only one known media appearance during the development of Condition Zero, being featured in the extended preview by the German magazine PC Games, in the April 2002 issue, together with most other maps that had been designed for the game.
When Ritual Entertainment took over development of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero in August 2002, the map was presumably scrapped and was thus not included in the final release of the game.
